Lesson 4 of The Running Revolution (RR) has been the most insightful for me so far. The focus on lifting the leg on the ground and catching yourself with the other leg is beautiful. This ‘pull’ as Dr. Ramonov describes is certainly awkward for me because it is not how I have been running since I was a kid, and even then it wasn’t a conscious act.
My daughter who is 4 was playing outside yesterday – she was actually playing Triathlon which for me is a parenting win! – really an with perfect Pose form. I was awestruck by her form – I now aspire to run like her!
The ‘change of support’ drill is my personal favourite at the moment.
My goal for the next couple of days for Lesson 5 is to aware of the Pose-Fall-Pull sequence of running.
As for swimming I swam in open water yesterday with a wetsuit in and felt much more comfortable than I did on any previous open water swims. I was able to swim fairly fast for a hundred yards or so.
This morning’s workout consisted of 8 x 75m with 20 seconds rest between lengths. Followed by 3 x 100m with 30 seconds and finished with 1 x 50m. I inadvertently skilled over week 4 of the program which is 8 x 75m with 30 seconds rest. So I will continue with week 5 as I felt good.
I focused on slowing down my stroke tempo, floating more, being long in the water. I felt that my legs weren’t kicking in unison with my stroke as much today.
Consistent effort, not heroic effort equates to 1% daily gains. 1% daily gains compound and over time mean big gains!
