Week 1 of The Running Revolution training program complete and into week 2 with a successful 10k run. The goal for this run (and for all my runs) is to maintain good form so much so that my first and last strides are the same.
I am by no means perfect with my stride but it feels pretty good. Springy is a good description of how I feel. I am doing a much better job of protecting my joints, especially my knees. I am focusing on landing on the balls of my feet, toes spread apart, under my hips, with knees bent absorbing the impact from the landing.
It was a slow run – 6.30 min per kilometre but no knee pain. The last kilometre I ran at 5.15 to see how my form could hold up.
Sunday is my Kombucha preparing day – and I look forward to this activity.
I have been brewing Booch for 4 weeks now and each brew I learn something new. Kombucha is my go to drink now – I prefer it over everything, even coffee!
Most popular flavour so far is Strawberry & Mint, followed by Ginger. And a great experimental flavour is Lavender & Rose Pedal – such a relaxing flavour.
I am not sure if I notice a difference in my overall health – I find these things hard to correlate. I like to chalk it up to lots of little changes over a long period of time.
Also yesterday I crushed a 20 minute open water swim – conditions were perfect other than the water was a bit cold! I focused on making my first stroke the same as my last stroke by using my hips to drive the swim. Like running I have lots to learn still and feel like I am rushing my stroke sometimes. I need to focus on staying long as I sometimes pull my lead hand to begin the stroke before I replace it worth my trail hand.
Practice in all aspects is making a huge difference.
