Ahhhh

I got on the treadmill last night, started running, and just didn’t want to.

The goal was to run for an hour.

My legs were heavy, I had indigestion, and my motivation was non-existent.

I did it anyway by celebrating little victories; little victories like a specific time, or a certain amount of calories burned. I set little goals and did a little celebration when I accomplished these goals.

I find on the treadmill that I really have to concentrate on my form and make sure my feet are pulling off the tread and landing under my centre of mass. I find it harder to lean and utilize my naturally occurring springs on a treadmill and possibly because of this my left knee started to feel some tightness. My left knee felt like most runs, I knew it was there but seems to be getting better and better. Landing under my center of mass is a super important point.

I am going to increase my kilometers to 40 per week by running 10k on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as 10k on Saturday and 10-15k on Sunday.

This schedule should provide enough rest time and balance work/home/run life nicely. It’s really only 4 hours of running per week (which is about 2% of the week).

Happy running.
