I have ran a minimum of 10k 7 days in a row! My legs are tired, I have a few blisters, and overall feel pretty good. I was concerned that my weekly kilometers weren’t enough to prepare for 50 miles – Last week I ran 50k and definitely get like I had more to give.
I am reading David Goggins’ book and it is certainly making me realize that I am leaving so much on the table; I am very average and no longer want that label. My life is wonderful in all aspects, but I feel mediocre and very middle of the pack.
I was using this 50 miler to do something hard, to show myself that there is more when the proper training and plan is put in place and acted on. I am using running as a tool to be better – Running works because it is so difficult for me. I have lots of excuses, or had lots of excuses but reading Goggins’ book puts these so-called excuses into perspective.
My knees are feeling good, my ankles are getting stronger, and my hip flexors are starting to open up with stretching. I am at a good spot but there is still lots of work to do.
Happy running.
