Floating

Going through the first couple chapters of Terry McLaughlin’s Total Immortalized swim book I came to the realization that if you can float in the water then all your energy can be used to move forward. If you can’t float then a portion of your energy is used into staying afloat – and this is a waste of energy because, as Terry argues, everyone can float – it is simply a matter balance!

Goal for the upcoming week for swimming is to stay long in the water, swim on my sides, and float by pushing my buoy (upper torso) into the water.

I will be swimming 8 x 75m with 20s rest.

My Pose training is also going well. I continue to do my daily drills and have worked through 7 of 10 of the lessons. I am going to start running again, training for a half marathon in September. Goal for the next few days is to emphasize falling, pulling, and landing properly. I am starting to understand that here is no push but rather a fall and a pull up of the support leg.

My right knee is still a bit tender and I am not sure the cause. Daily stretches and MobilityWOD movements have improved things. However if something hurts I must be doing something improperly and thus need to change something.

I can feel my knee when I dorsal flex my foot so I wonder if there is a calf or hamstring tightness as the root cause.

Crush your goals and rock and/or Roll!
